Newsflow across most French biotechnology companies has been broadly unfavorable over the past six months. Most of the early biotech recovery thrill seems to be gone. Abivax, Nanobiotix, and Medincell are notable exceptions. By contrast, Abionyx, Adocia, MaaT Pharma, and Sensorion have failed to sustain the momentum seen earlier in the year.

Abivax. On July 6, 2026, Abivax completed a $920 million public offering. On July 30, the Paris-based biotechnology company reported a positive pre-NDA meeting with the FDA regarding obefazimod for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. It plans to file the New Drug Application by the end of Q4 2026.

Medincell. On October 9, Medincell and its partner Teva Pharmaceuticals announced FDA approval of WELTRUZA™ (olanzapine) an extended-release injectable suspension. It is the first and only once-monthly, subcutaneous, long-acting olanzapine injection for adults with schizophrenia.

Nanobiotix. On September 14, Nanobiotix reported full-cohort Phase 1 results for JNJ-1900 (NBTXR3) in 24 patients with inoperable, recurrent non-small cell lung cancer. Investigators concluded that the treatment may provide clinically meaningful local control with a substantially lower re-irradiation dose than patients had previously received.

Abionyx. On October 10, 2026, Abionyx announced a partnership with internationally recognized CDMO Olon to develop CER-001 for Lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) deficiency, a rare genetic disorder of lipoprotein metabolism caused by mutations in the LCAT gene on chromosome 16q22.1. Stifel, an american investment bank, recently reiterated a buy recommendation with an €8.50 target, implying a 446% upside. The market has yet to reflect this view, with Abionyx's shares trading near €1.55.

Adocia. Adocia’s shares have fallen about 55% over the past six months, mainly because investors question the company’s ability to secure financing and new partnerships quickly. Cash constraints, recurring losses, minimal revenue, and unsuccessful or expired partnership opportunities have pushed the stock to its lowest level since January 1, 2026.

MaaT Pharma. On September 18, 2026, MaaT Pharma outlined the potential development path for MaaT013 (Xervyteg®) after the EMA’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) issued a negative opinion on its conditional marketing authorization application. MaaT013 is a fecal microbiotherapy designed to modulate gastrointestinal and immune mechanisms involved in acute graft-versus-host disease. MaaT Pharma's share declined more than 80% since March 2026.

Sensorion. Sensorion’s shares have declined by close to 70% over the past six months. The fall reflects the termination of a major clinical program, continued heavy losses, and investor concerns about the value and funding needs of the remaining pipeline. In June 2026, Sensorion discontinued SENS-501, its OTOF gene therapy, reducing pipeline diversification and destroying near-term value. Stifel nevertheless viewed the refocus as rational because Regeneron’s competing OTOF therapy, offered free of charge in the United States, made SENS-501’s commercial potential difficult to assess.
